Our Programs

Resilience is forged in the fire of challenge, camaraderie, and faith. It’s not just about surviving; it’s about thriving in every area of life.

Resilience-Focused Kinetic Outdoor Activites

At Outdoor Immersion, we are laser-focused on one goal: rebuilding resilience—body, mind, and spirit. Whether you’ve served on the frontlines or supported from the home front, the transition to civilian life can feel isolating. Through outdoor adventures and real, no-BS community connections, we’re here to help you stand strong again. This isn’t therapy. It’s about reconnecting with your God-given purpose and rediscovering your strength through shared challenges and hard-won victories in nature.

All actions, whether hiking, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, cycling, etc., typically last for a 2-3 hour time frame and often ends with time at a restaurant table. The goal of the action is to build a foundation of trust, confidence and friendship through storytelling on the trail, in the boat, along the river bank or at the table.

Step 1

Building strength and stamina through outdoor activities that renew the body.

Step 2

Fostering clarity and peace by stepping away from stress and into nature.

Step 3

Reconnecting with God’s creation and finding deeper meaning and hope.

Step 4

Creating friendships and community connections that last a lifetime.

Hiking/Trailrunning

Guided hikes of varying lengths but typically 2-3 miles in a beautiful natural setting that reduces stress and increases feelings of well-being. Runs could be longer. Activity is available for individuals or groups and tailored to the capabilities of the individual(s) with varying levels of character-building challenge. A typical hike will include times of observation, conversation, contemplative solitude and storytelling. Hikes/runs are conducted year-round utilizing a number of trail systems.

Kayaking/Canoeing

Guided paddling trips on lakes, rivers and streams with all equipment provided. For individuals and groups, most actions are on calm, slow-moving waters in beautiful, scenic areas. Typical time on the water is 2-3 hours and available year-round. Protective gear is provided and mandatory when conditions warrant.

Fishing

Guided fishing experiences on calm lakes and rivers where participants receive all necessary gear and instruction to learn techniques, cultivate patience, and enjoy meaningful conversations by the water. This activity fosters camaraderie, mindfulness, and a deep connection with nature.

Canoe Corps

Is a group action (10-12) that is a half-day event starting early on a Saturday morning and concludes in the lunch hour with a catered lunch. Participants learn how to work together to maneuver and maintain their boats in formation while experiencing camaraderie in primarily slow moving waters that may have some novice level whitewater. Breakfast and lunch provided.

Sword Path

An 8–12 week course studying a book of the Bible or other texts to foster healthy spiritual formation through weekly group meetings, guided discussion, and reflective practice.

OI Mess Hall

A Quarterly get together of invited veterans to share a meal and engage in sem-directed, military and civilian-life focused conversations that are meant to afford a way of processing various memories and current experiences with each other, for the purpose of developing relational connections and memory processing.
